Harry Munkara: G’day everyone, my name’s Harry

Ron Poantumilui: And I’m Ron. You’re watching the 2011 Tiwi Island football Grand Final.

Harry Munkara: I’m batting for the Ranku Eagles

Ron Poantumilui: And I’m batting for Imalu Tigers

Harry Munkara: That we’re related, me and Ron but we’re going for two suits of teams today

Harry Munkara and crowd: Yeah, go the Ranku Eagles!

Ron Poantumilui: After 21 home and away games, two top team had made it into the Grand Final

Harry Munkara: Wow! It’s a close game, but I don’t know who’s going to win or lose

Harry Munkara: What you reckon, Ron? That’s another goal there by the Tigers

Ron Poantumilui: I think the Tigers will take the flag.

Harry Munkara: But the coach has something to say to the players

Coach: Do it again! Do it again!

Harry Munkara: The game’s about to be finished between the Imalu Tigers and the Ranku Eagles. You can see now Imalu leading in front by four goals straight and I think they’ll take the flag for 2011 Tiwi Island Football League Grand Final at the Stanley Tipaloura Oval

[Crowd cheers and chants]

Harry Munkara: What is it like to win your first premiership?

Gregory Bush (player): I feel good and happy

[Crowd cheers and chants]

Ron Poantumilui: How do you feel about this?

Hector Titungwuti (player): Very excited …the boys kept the effort, everything we done on the training track on Monday, Wednesday and Friday…we played alright and it’s lucky we got the win

[Crowd cheers and chants]

Harry: Even though the Tigers won I’ve still got two nephews who play for the Ranku Eagles. But I’m happy for my own brother-in-law, he won, but sad for my two nephews

Player: It feels, being lost, no good. I just got to go home, go to sleep, hang my socks, get ready for next year

Harry Munkara: There’s no winners

Ron Poantumilui: There’s no losers

Harry Munkara: No matter we’re different teams but we’re all one big family

Ron Poantumilui: Yep, there’ll always be next year, Tiwi Football League
